Company
For
nearly twenty years, Benchmark Development has been contracting
residential and commercial construction projects in Northern
California. For a couple years, the firm worked across
the country building tenant improvement projects in regional
malls, where we manufactured and installed custom commercial
wall systems and displays. In
1993, Rick Green, owner of Benchmark Development was
first introduced to the concept of straw bale construction.
This seemed a natural transition, since he was at the
time raising rice and being faced with the problem of
not burning the straw. Since that time we have focused
almost entirely on promoting straw bale construction.
We have done this by participating in organizations
like the California Straw Builders Association, constructing
displays and demonstration projects at major events,
and having become the largest supplier of straw bales
anywhere.
Russ Tucker, general superintendent
for Benchmark Development, brings over thirty years
of experience in the construction industry and is also
a licensed general contractor. Mr. Tucker is proficient
in all phases of light commercial and residential construction,
including sub-division supervision. Mr. Tucker was responsible
for the construction supervision of the largest straw
bale project to date in California - the ABC School
for Autistic Children in Sacramento, California.
With a forward-looking attitude
toward technology and innovation, Benchmark Development
is equipped to build a wide range of projects. From
garden walls to large-scale commercial projects, or
from a single home to a full sub-division, our team
is ready to help facilitate whatever your straw bale
project might be. We look forward to your project with
anticipation and the challenge of building with straw.
